Computer Counter OCD
Okay now that I just vented about my technical frustrations I will tell you about my frustrations with the computer counter set up. Each morning I arrange the laptops on my counter so they are evenly spaced and has a chair pushed underneath. Each afternoon I find the computers all scattered on the counter, not plugged in and chairs missing! I ofcourse have vented my frustrations to the students, but that doesn't seem to have helped. My latest idea was to put stickers on the counter and telling the students to make sure a laptop is on top of each sticker. This has somewhat worked, but I don't think it is a permanent solution. Any other anal teachers out there have any ideas??

I have the same OCD tendencies and this past week I did things a little different when lining the students up that seemed to calm the crazy lady inside me down. I had the students doing group work and when it was time, I had them pack up to go. However, instead of saying, pack up and line up, I had them pack up and sit at their tables waiting to be called to line up. My room has never looked better! I had students looking on the floor for things in efforts to be able to line up more quickly! The chairs all got pushed in and the folders were neatly placed in the magazine holders. My cubbies of crayons and colored pencils were carefully placed in the cubby holders. It was heaven!! So, perhaps if you take control (as in control-freak, like me!) they will get the message. Don't let them leave the area until it is to your liking. I hope you find some sort of solution soon! My heart hurts for you just thinking about all that disarray...
